Charities

At Threads for Thought, we believe that we are all Citizens of the World and this presumes a responsibility for humanity as a whole as well as a commitment to the preservation of this planet that we all share.

To this end, we have selected two highly effective charities as the primary organizations that we support...the International Rescue Committee and the Natural Resource Defense Council. Not only do we provide financial support, but we create and donate Shop the Cause products, sponsor events, act as a "cause" partner and advocate for their critical work addressing humanitarian or natural crises.

The International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world's worst crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. For over 75 years, they have offered lifesaving care and life-changing help to refugees forced to flee from conflict or disaster. The IRC is in over 40 countries and in 22 U.S. cities; the IRC leads the way from harm to home.

The IRC is consistently awarded high marks by charity watchdog groups and respected publications for the efficient use of its financial support and the effectiveness of its work. Of every $1 the IRC spends, more than 90ยข goes to programs and services that directly benefit refugees and communities affected by war or disaster.

The Natural Resources Defense Council

Founded in 1970, the NRDC's mission is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends.

NRDC is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. They use law, science and the support of 1.3 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. The NRDC receives top ratings from charity watchdogs and meets the highest standards for accountability and use of donor funds.
