Why Our Materials Are Better
Conventionally grown cotton is one of the world's most abundant crops with about 13 million acres devoted to growing it. Conventional cotton uses more than 25% of the world's insecticides & 10% of the world's pesticides. Despite many ad campaigns promoting cotton as a clean & natural crop, it is actually one of the world's dirtiest crops. That is why we have made a commitment to using organically grown cotton, which does not use harmful insecticides, pesticides or GMO seeds in the growing process. It is our hope that more apparel companies will follow our lead, because if we all simply use organic cotton instead of conventional cotton, we can reduce the toxicity of a cotton t-shirt by 90%.
Last year the U.S.A. used enough plastic water bottles to stretch around the world 190 times with less than 10% of that being recycled. By simply using recycled polyester, we are able to reuse these plastic bottles & turn them into fashion rather than waste. In addition, recycled polyester uses 90% less water than traditional polyester helping to significantly cut down on our use of water in the manufacturing process.
